MIYA COMMUNITY RESEARCH COLLECTIVE

We are a community-based grassroots research collective in the Northeastern state of Assam in India. We are committed to a critical social justice agenda and work to understand and address oppression and inequalities that Miya communities in Assam have been subjected to over the ages. We created the Miya Community Research Collective as a way to advance epistemic justice - building an assemblage that honors Miya peoples’ stories and brings those into the public arena – to be acknowledged and witnessed. Centering radical relationality and communal knowing, our research collective seeks to empower Miya people and to build communities of resistance.
